Vegas "Not Responding"

Okay, I have a problem. Everytime I am in Vegas, it locks up on me and there is an error message on the title bar that says "Not Responding." Eventually, the CPU responds. I am running a Dell GPS P4 3.4mhz with two hard drives (160 and 400gigs). The problem just started today. I haven't downloaded (knowingly) any new software recently.

Earlier I was having a problem with Vegas running extremely slow. Everything else (internet, dreamweaver, photoshop, etc.) was running at normal breakneck speed. I did a system reboot to yesterday and Vegas sped up, but now I randomly get the not responding problem. I checked the knowledgebase on Sony's site and did a search here to no avail.

Anyone familiar with this problem?

I've had the same issue at times. Completely random. When it happens a time or two, I'll reboot ... maybe defrag the drive over night, that kind of stuff. It's not been too consistant to piss me off ... yet.
