Vegas not recognizing single .m2t file

Anyone have a suggestion for solving the following:

I have captured numerous .m2t files to my hard drive using Vegas 6 (latest version 6.0d build 210). No problem and no issues - I can load them up in Vegas and edit all my .m2t files - except in relation to the one file I want to edit.

The problem file in question appears in the list in the Vegas Explorer tab. When I click on it, there is a longer than usual pause, after which the file description below the explorer window merely lists the path of the file (as opposed to displaying the "usual" .m2t file information i.e. the video and audio stats for the file). I can't drag it up into a video track and when I right click on it to get the file properties info I just get the little hourglass thingy and no resulting menu.

It occurred to me that the file might have been corrupted in some way, necessitating re-rendering, but the file plays just fine when I fire it up in the VLC media player.

I have also tried copying it to another linked hard drive and renaming it - no luck in either case. I find it odd that the VLC player will recognize it just fine as an .m2t file and play it with no issues but Vegas isn't recognizing it at all.

In case it helps, the stats for the file are: Video 1280x720x32 23.976 fps progressive, 168 megs in size. Other smaller and larger .m2t files open fine in Vegas.

Any and all suggestions appreciated - otherwise I suppose it's a re-render.
