vegas not capturing

Just had a quick question. I just bought a new computer a month ago and got vegas 8 put on there 3 days ago. I plug my camera in the firewire port(like i would my other computer) and vegas doesnt read it. I've tried going into options and getting it to read but I dont think I'm doin any good. Any suggestions?
 
nevermind. It seems my Firewire was never plugged into the motherboard. Great craftmenship LOL!
 
Click "File" and then "Capture video". Connect your camera to the firewire cable and put it into "play" mode. A window will popup asking you if you want to capture DV or HDV. If you don't get this window you must re-enable its popping up at the Vegas main settings panel. Select HDV. Then, in the Capture window/tab, click the little down-arrow next to "Prefs", then "Device" and select the HV20 from there.

If you still don't get the HV20 listed in that list of devices, then there's something wrong with your firewire port or driver. Also, try another firewire cable.
