What is the media manager? Is it primarily for network computers? Is it something that I should learn to use or is it not all that important?

Reason I'm asking, is because I cannot get mine to work.

One of the things about Vegas is that it has so many features, that even a person who just edited a feature film with it...you know who i'm talking about, Just barely scratches the surface of what it can do. I disabled my media manager, and have no idea what advantages it has. I guess the manual would be a good thing for me to read at some point.

Yeah I soon as I got the upgrade 6.0 from 4.0 I installed and it gave me some errors saying that the Media Manager couldn't be installed so I just skipped that step and it still works fine.

My understanding of the Media Manager (I've not utilized it myself yet either) is to help with organization & work flow. You can "tag" or label/categorize all your clips for quicker referencing, etc.

I played with it and was hoping to use it in projects, but it turned out to be a huge resource-hogging and awkward PITA. It only slowed down my workflow, instead of helping it.

Thankfully it can be turned off. Hopefully they'll improve it, but for now I'll just continue to rename the clips and organize them by directory.
