Vegas Issues

I've been having some troulbe with my vegas 6d.

The dvd's are always jerky now, no longer smooth motion.

I render an mpeg2 file and then an AIF file and import both in to DVA 3.
The audio plays in the timeline but when I hit preview, the audio doesn't play.

What am I doing wrong?

Why do you export audio and video separately? And if that's needed, why not export in AC3 instead of AIFF?

This is how I was told to do it. I render to MPEG2 which only handles the visual side, so I need to provide a audio track. When I try MP3 for the audio it asks me to buy a plug in.

You render separately because that's what DVD Architect expects -- an MPEG-2 file with no audio. The DVD Architect MPEG templates do not include audio.

The reason is that DVDs don't use MPEG audio -- they're either AC-3 or PCM. If you render the audio and video together, DVDA will have to re-render the file to demux the audio from the video and then re-render both, the video as MPEG and the audio as either AC-3 or PCM, whichever you've chosen.

So, bottom line, if you don't render separately, DVDA will re-render, and you just don't want to recompress an MPEG-2 file if you can help it -- aside from making the disc preparation a whole lot faster by doing it the right way.

So, what you want to do is follow the DVD Architect template and render the MPEG-2 file, then render the audio with the same file name, as either AC-3 or PCM (.wav). DVD Architect will automatically mate them up if you save them to the same folder.

MP3 isn't supported for video DVD.

Yes, you'd want to create a loop region if you don't want to render your entire project. Use the same loop region for both renders.
