I need help in customizing the interface in Vegas 6. I tried without any result to relocate the video/audio timeline from the top to the bottom half. Then the monitor, explore, and fx windows would occupate the top half of the editing screen. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Vegas 6 is fully customizable and you can save layouts; naming layouts began with Vegas 7.

Vegas 7 also first made it easy to do what you're trying to do, but you've been able to do it since Vegas 5. In Vegas 6, you do this:

1) Go to the Tools dropdown menu.

2) Hold "Shift" while you click "Properties."

3) You should see a tab which says "Internal," which you wouldn't normally see if you only clicked "Properties" without the shift. Choose "Internal."

4) DO NOT DO ANYTHING OTHER THAN WHAT I SAY HERE. At the bottom of the window, you should see a box labeled "Show only perfs containing:" -- in the box, type "dock."

5) You should then see only one option remaining -- Frame Dock at the Top. Change the value to "True."

6) Click "Apply," then "OK."

You should know see the timeline at the bottom.

Starting with Vegas 7, this was just a checkbox in the normal Preferences.

Thankyou
