Vegas freezing on loadup because of external hard drives?

Noticed a obscure problem with Vegas 8 Pro. It will completely lock up at the load screen at "Creating Windows" unless all my external hard drives are plugged in.

I'm not crazy, because if I forget to it will freeze right there. Plug all 7 externals in, and it loads instantly without a hitch.

Is there a way around this? I don't always need 7 externals running for a vegas project. I even safely removed the unnecessary drives to no avail, still the loading is dependent on them all being plugged in.

Anyone else notice this?

Thanks.

Perhapse you have a file on the drive that is in your project media? If so it will look for it at boot up and if it cant find it..maybe your cause??

Thanks for the reply. I could understand if I was loading a project file or an autosaved project that required those files from those hard drives, but even when I'm loading to a new blank project it will still stop loading at the "Creating Windows" status on the blue load screen. If doesn't give me an option to skip any missing files.

But plug in all the hard drives and it loads all up fine.

Can anyone else relate to this frustration?
