vegas fades

I tried searching for this, but no results..so here goes.

In vegas 5, while I'm watching my playback, all my fades pretty much suck.

by suck i mean, the picture will noticably gain contrast just as the fade starts- sort of like a flicker, before it starts to go black.

anyone know a solution for this? I'm looking for a fade that won't mess with my picture.
 
That sounds strange, I've never seen that happen with my stuff. Do you have any other envelopes or effects on the track? Do you have preferences set to fade to black? I'm grasping at straws I guess...
 
I just thought of something...
maybe it's because my blacks are crushed enough, so when the black fade comes in, it automatically crushes my blacks for me, thus creating a noticable difference in the contrast between the two portions of the clip.

sound reasonable?

I'm going to try and mess around with this to see if I can solve it on my own.
 
yeah, i was right. I hadn't color corrected my images yet, so the fades were throwing me off. I tested the fades on some CC'd images and it looked fine.
