it is from my 7D but transcoded into 720p wmv files.
I took my footage and CC'ed it and rendered out each clip in wmv for him via Vegas on my machine

I can only imagine 7D footage in Vegas 7 would be highly problematic, so it's probably the source of the problem. Vegas 8 and 9 have enough problems with it.

You definitely want to transcode to an intermediate to work with it, and Eugenia is correct -- WMV is not at all suitable for editing, especially for color work.

You might also look into updating that Vegas 7.0a to the latest version of 7.0 which is 7.0e I believe. That could help if Sony has fixed some bugs that caused your problems.

You probably should keep your 7.0a install file just in case and back up your projects as updating in the middle of a project is not recommended sometimes.

Hope this helps,
Andy

Thanks
He's getting 9 so hopefully that should resolve some of the issues. And I'll not do wmv's anymore

You might give DVFilm Epic I a try if you are getting Vegas 9. It's specifically designed for realtime editing of DSLR footage like the 7d's without the need for transcoding.

You can get more info and try the demo at www.dvfilm.com/epic

Best,
Andy
