When I add an FX (i.e. Magic Bullet) in Vegas 5.0, I see only half the
effect in the display window. Is this normal ? I haven't rendered anything yet as I wasn't sure if there was a problem. So can anyone tell me what's going on?
Thanks, that did it. Guess I didn't read the book and watch the videos thoroughly enough. Next question, how long is prerendering supposed to take? I'm rendering a 5 minute video and so far it's taken 4 hours to render 15 percent. Am I doing something else wrong or do I need a new computer? I have a Gateway 500x with a Intel 2.0 processor and one gig of ram. Thanks again.
Those specs aren’t that bad. But the pertinent question is, what are you trying to render? Into what format? What kind of effects do you have applied (Magic Bullet)? How many layers? Any track motion?
I'm editing dv and super 8 (which I assume downloaded as dv from the camcorder). I also have 2 layers of magic bullet across all video frames. Then I have 2 tracks of audio, what came with the camcorders and one track of music (wav I think). The dv was recorded at 24fps and 60i.
By “super 8,” I assume you can only mean Sony Digital 8 – in which case, yes, it’s DV.
Your *two* layers of Magic Bullet are the culprit. One layer would be punishing enough, but oh, my stars and garters, two layers will take you into the next decade. OK, not the next decade, but you have *hours* and conceivably *days* ahead of you. That’s Magic Bullet.
Okay, I can buy that. What about your Celluloid ? Can I get the same looks as I'm getting with Magic Bullet ? How much will it cost me? I read your link and I cann't figure out if it's $34.00, $129.00 or both. Also, do I have to download it? I'd rather get it on a disc. If magic bullet is this slow, I cann't use it !
