Has anyone had a problem with Vegas crashing while transcoding AVCHD files? It only happens on about 10% of the files. I am using Vegas pro 9

All i get is crashes... non stop... ever since version 7 service pack B, with any kind of H264 (AVCHD) related anything....

i have version 8c running right now as its the most stable i can find. but it just froze crashed, burned down, and took the whole project with it....

I feel your frustration. I have always loved Vegas and have never had a problem. I used Vegas 4 and 7 without any issues. I like vegas 9, but it has crashed more in the last month of using it than the other 2 combined.

Dude, i cant even get footage into the program. basically its 499$ for nothing. i want a refund. I cant even cut a couple of simple shots together. i was going to cut a new reel for myself, but its been 4 hours and i dont even have clips to look at on the timeline...

Why did sony have to ruin the one editor i liked...

mine crashes all the time. its the nature of the beast and I'm getting impatient. :kali:

update to vegas 9e and see if it works
you can uninstall the service pack, re-install vegas, and see if it works.
if it doesn't, your in really bad shape, ,

Those of you touting how solid versions 4-7 of Vegas were, were not using HD most likely. Vegas is very, very specific in what it can handle on the timeline. If you try to use it the way they promise you can, you'll pull your hair out. Put cineform, or Sony's MXF on the timeline and you'll be ok. Anything else... well good luck.

I use a GH1 and work with the files straight from the camera all the time, AVCHD. With the latest Vegas Pro 9 64-bit I never get crashes when rendering. It's quite nice, I recommend it.

I still get crashes sometimes (pretty rarely actually) when working on the timeline; as such I've learned to do ctrl-s frequently.

I've been trying to edit/render a 13 minute sports event since 8 am this morning. I was supposed to have it to a client by 6pm.. I bet that it crashed at least 50 times today, and I've recreated files, copied timelines, and changed settings so many times.. I want to gouge out my eyes. I FINALLY got a crappy render out that wasn't even usable. I'm just editing M2T files from a canon HV40.. this is ridiculous.

my vegas pro 8.0 crashed all the time and my vegas 9.0e does too. It sucks cause i know the program so well. I just wish it worked without crashing!!!

I put a solid state drive in the other day for my programs and windows 7 and striped my other drives. Now VEGAS CRASHES ALOT FASTER!

im frusturated too

thanks,
Chris
