i just don't get how sony vegas does compositing:
here the trouble

example

1: i rendered a teapot image from a 3d program saved as tga 32 bit and compress alpha

2: add video into sony timeline

3. add a second video track ontop the video timeline, import tga teapot file into it

4: go into composite mode, trying add subtract etc, hoping that the teapot will comp on top of video with the black parts of the image transparent, but it doesn't!! the best i get is a semi transpartent image

i just don't get it, doesn't vegas see tga files with alphas the same way, as after effects ,digital fusion, shake.. etc etc the same way???

am i just stupid and have done something wrong, any insight would be a great help i wanna go to sleep sometime this week,

i just wanna comp 3d animation (tga)on top of video

thanx

You don't need to change the compositing mode of the tracks.

Right-click on the TGA and go to the Media tab. Go to the Alpha Channel field at the bottom. Choose "premultiplied."

yes it works!!!

OK I LIKE VEGAS AGAIN

THANK YOU SO MUCH DAVID I WILL SLEEP TONITE!!!!!

(i knew it was something small like that)

choose premultipled only if that is how the tga was saved in your 3D app. I use straight alpha 99% of the time.
