Hi, I thought till date that vegas would accept any (or atleast most) movie file formats that you throw onto the timeline. But i was surprised last night. To prcatice some CC i took some random clips which are net downloaded. None of them would run inside vegas. I mean when u tried to preview them from the media bin. They would run and get stuck at one frame. Then release for a sec or so. Then get stuck for about a min. Stuttering. I assumed if a particular codec was on your system then vegas would handle those files without a problem. But i think it doesnt work that way. I opened the folder where the files are and double click on them and they play perfectly well within media player. Does that mean the codecs are on the system ??? I dont know. But play they do. All of them files. But none of them will play within vegas. Shud i assume that files downloaded from the web are encoded in some funny manner that wudnt allow them to run normally within vegas ? Any ideas ? Right click show properties within vegas display the codec of these files to be wmv7.
