For Vegas? What are the rest of your computer's specs, and what kind of footage do you have problems with? Vegas barely uses your GPU, unlike, say Premiere, and instead performs better with a higher power CPU.
hmmm. I have 8GB Ram i5 quad 750 @ 2.67 Win 7 64 bit with two monitors. I still run into memory problems when I render and if I turn my resolution all the way down to 800 I seem to be able to render without problems. If I set it to 1280 all kinds of dots start "eating" away at my screen untill I just have white screens. This seemed to indicate to me a video card issue but maybe not. I have 32 bit Vegas running because I have plugins that I use that only work at 32 including DVfilms Epic 1 that if I don't use that ALL kinds of memory issues occur. I've reinstalled Vegas several times. I'm almost to a point of switching to some other editor but I've invested so much in the plugins etc that I just can't afford it. ANY help would be SOOOOO appreciated I can't tell you!
I believe that same fix applies to Vegas Pro too because it actually fixes the codec modules, not Vegas itself. I've seen that fix quoted in the Sony Vega Pro forum as well. I have the Movie Studio version running in Win7-64 and it sure fixed my system.
Ok after spending $120 on four gigs more memory and almost getting a new video card it seems this solved the problem. Disgusting that Sony has a product that needs this workaround fix in order to operate smoothly. I hope they get their act together as they have a decent editor if all the problems are gone. Thanks bbinard
Edit: This helped but didn't solve completely, still have lockups but less freq
sorry to dig up old thread but I always like to post solutions to problems. Solution? Adding a second video card for my second monitor instead of using one card for two. I upgraded to the 1 gig 9800 but that wasn't enough...so I now have one 512mb 9800 and one 1gb 9800.
