Vegas and HD project settings

I am using Raylight to convert 720p/24pn footage from the HVX into .avi files for use in Vegas. I was wondering the proper project settings....i.e. 1280x720, frame rate, aspect ratios...etc......
Can anyone divulge? I know Spot can help me out....probably Barry as well......

Use one of the 720 HDV templates, and then change the frame rate to 23.976, and make it progressive. Don't forget to change the ruler, too.

Then save the preset under a new name.
 
Thanks...now to find the threads of camera setup and image tweaks......I am shooting straight out of the box at the moment, but am ready to experiment....
any suggestions out there??
