Vegas and DVCPRO HD

Marcus,

Is there a place for existing Raylight owners to download the upgrade or to upgrade to this new release?

I'm very pleased with the performance I'm getting with this -- and can't wait for the further support. It only stood to reason that if Sony wouldn't do it, someone else would see the market potential and do it for them.

If the point of contention really was what Panasonic was charging for its DVCPRO SDK, what I'm seeing here is that either DVFILM was able to achieve this without it, or that it's economically feasible to pay the cost and still charge only $200 to the customer, figuring in that cost. We had been saying a year ago that we'd be willing to pay Sony $200-300 or even $400 for an "HVX Add-on Pak" for Vegas, if it didn't want to figure in the SDK cost to the overall Vegas price; DVFilm has proven it can be done, and it's just a matter of being willing to do it.

And offering the upgrade for free? Home run. Bra-VO.

how is raylight working out for those that bought it?
Does it still have to convert any files or can I simply pop in the P2 card and start editing? Does it support all formats (1080/24p and 720p/pn)? What kind of set backs so far?

HOLY CRAP!

You bastards! I can' t belive each and every one of you didn't PM me to tell me this! lol...

the future is here! thank you DVfilm!!!

That's my biggest problem with Raylight / DVFilm - I have to come here to find out there's been an update. I blame mvb for not being a spammer / listdister like so many others.

I want to be violated! Uh... or was that sedated? Can't remember.

Better than DVCproHD would be ProRes422.

Is there any other way to create a decent HD file from Vegas to Final Cut PRO?

Also Does anywone know how to convert a M2T file to a decent AAVC to burn with Sony BWU 100a?

In another thread, Jan suggested we contact Sony and stress our desire to have Vegas support DVCPRO HD by the time the HVX is shipping. I just started a thread over at Sony Forums, since no one has addressed this issue there. Maybe if we ALL weigh in now, they will commit to it early rather than see a wholesale rebellion as version 6 hits the streets. At least we each have $200 worth of leverage now.

Also, this one looked interesting about doing a 60i to 24p conversion in v6.

So everyone please get busy and make our voices heard!!! Post counts are what gets the attention of the techie over there.
Vegas can do DVCPRO HD. My friend who edited my short film has edited footage shot on Vegas (which I have seen with my own eyes).

I am not an editor, but he mentioned you need some extra software to do it. However, it is possible. I am going to visit him in the next few days, so I am going to ask him how he did it anyway because it intrigues me and I'm thinking about getting high def stuff. If you like, send me a private message and I'll tell you how he did it when I see him.

Mhmm... raylight is a goog way for vegas user...
i actually use in demo mode, i'll probably buy this plugin, i don't want to edit with premiere... ;)
But raylight plugin make some degradation in the shoot in full mode or it's just a full conversion?

DVCPRO HD and Vegas 8 and what file formats

DVCPRO HD and Vegas 8 and what file formats

Sorry if this has already been discussed but I didn't see any answers from the stickys

I wanted to know how much support Vegas 8 has for DVCPRO HD. Basically does it require a seperate card for capture? And using, say, a Blackmagic card, how does vegas import that footage? Does it capture to an MXF format that vegas can read?

The problem is that whenever I use our varicam and SDX with the hvx, I have to capture the footage on our avid nitris setup (which captures footage as avid encoded MXFs) and then render out to uncomp quicktime and bring into vegas. Thats way too many steps and a real hassle with a lot of footage. Im not even sure that is the best format to bring into vegas. To my knowledge it isnt lossless

also, which card in your experience is the better buy:
blackmagic or AJA Xena?

I already have raylight. Im wondering how to get DVCPRO HD tape into vegas. Does blackmagic and the others capture to DVCPRO MXF file format which raylight can read? Or does raylight only read P2 MXF specific files?

i've buy Raylight, and it's really fine !!!
not only for vegas, you can convert (with a proxy file) to work with combustion or aftereffect... it's very good and not really expensive
