Vegas and After Effects: Round 2

I recently upgraded to Vegas Pro 11 which is 64bit. Due to that, I no longer have the option to save my project as an .AAF edl format. Is there a workaround for this at the moment? I use the .aaf files to get my edits into After Effects without rendering.
Thanks!

Thanks for the reply.
You're the first person I've posted this link for so I'm really glad to hear that it works.

What forum did you find in might I ask? There might be other good resources I can use to refine my Vegas workflow for features =)

I think it was the Creative Cow Vegas forum but I can't be 100% positive as I'm on several different ones.

I'm not an AE user but I grabbed this utility from a Vegas forum just in case someone ever asked for it.
I hope it works for you.

Since I don't use Vegas, but happened across someone who does, and who wants to have some AE stuff done, I presume this tool allows for EDL output from Vegas. And what is the problem with 64-bit and AAF...

The .aaf Save-As option isn't available in 64 bit Vegas, only in the 32 bit version. This script basically does the exact same thing I was doing before, but now I can do it from 64 bit Vegas =) The end result is as if I copied clips from Premiere and pasted them into AE

Interesting. So this workflow assumes you want to edit in Vegas, but render from AE, right?

I actually sometimes like some of Vegas' format encoders more than Adobe's (wmv, for example). I don't much care for the interface of Premiere, but love the ability to extract a scene into AE, apply effects, and bring it back into the NLE's timeline.

I know there isn't a way to do this in Vegas without rendering out (the cut/edited clip out from vegas, and the finished effect from AE to import back into Vegas). But I'm wondering how many others work like this? I'm sure there's some sort of plugin/streamlined process to work the way I'm describing, but I've only recently gone back to Vegas after trying to convince myself Premiere was better. :)

You dont have to render out of Vegas. I just frameserve to AE from vegas.

I don't render out of Vegas either for effects. Since Vegas can have multiple projects open at once (in different instances of the software), I copy the clip that needs effects from my main timeline to another one. Then I export an EDL of that timeline (with one clip) to open in AE. Apply effects and render a DNxHD, drop back into the main timeline. My reasonings for exporting the whole timeline of a feature is not so much to render from AE as I like using Colorista. I prefer the way it looks over the 3 way in Vegas. So in a finished feature with a Vegas/AE workflow, I've only rendered once, at the end (twice for effects shots). And it doesn't take that much work either =) The whole EDL export/open in AE takes a matter of seconds for the effects shots. The other bonus to going to AE is creating a 1920x816 output image with no letterboxing, something I haven't figured out how to do properly in Vegas
