Vegas AC3 instalation woes

Matt Grunau

Adobe Demigod
My work computer got a virus, and I had to whipe the whole thing. I reinstalled evertything, all was working well. Then when I went to register the AC3 plugin and hit "Buy" or" OK" or whatever, the computer crashed.

I reloaded Vegas (I am using ver 6 still) and went to export an AC3 file and was told it would not export becuase it was not registered or was missing some componenets. I bought the full version of Vegas WITH DVD Archetect, and on the box it clearly states that AC3 Encoding available. I have been using it for two years now, and now it wont install. I don't know what I am doing wrong. I put in the same codes I did two years ago.

Can someone please help me out with this?

Thanks.

Matt

Yes I did. And to ad more trouble on top of things, my dvd burner would not recognize the disc to I had to instal it into a seperate folder and bring it across the network and install from the desktop. I have always had pro versions of vegas, and have always had problems with the AC3 plugin. Now I am having trouble finding all the documentations and paswords. My DVD architect box is in tact, but I can't find the registration number for the AC3 on any of my vegas or DVD architect stuff. I had an old serial number written on the box which was a registration number for the ac3 that worked, but it is not working either.

And right in the middle of a project. What a pain. I had two projects I was mixing in vegas in surround more as a test than anything, and now they wont open.

Sony is getting to be a pain.

It should just install with DVD Architect. Have you tried contacting Sony support?
You might have a registry issue of some kind.

I had not thought of that, but everything is working fine now. Good call Dave on the registry items. I downloaded a program call CCleaner, and even with the brand new system in place, since my buddy had been using different utilities and usb connectsion, and since I was in stalling and resintalling, I did a simple reg clean, it picked out some 160 items that needed sweeped out, I rean it four more times in a row, each finding a few more, until none were found.

Then I rebooted and when I started the install, it acted the very same as the very first time I installed it todeay. All the same windows (it didin'ts skip something things like it had befroe I gues were in memory) and the first thing I did after registering Vegas was to brig in in an mp3, try to export it as an ac3, got the original error which wated the code, used my old code, and evertything went fine.

Thanks to all. In about 2 hours after being without my main system I should be back up and running clean as a whstle. Then I am doing a Norton Ghost so this crap doesnt happen again.

I even found all the old serials for the magic bullet and movie looks insals, something I had lost. God for me!

Thanks all!!!
