Vegas 9 Pro Video Preview fps dropping

Hi,
Im using Sony Vegas Pro 9.0e.
I have PAL DV Widescreen video with Magic Bullet Mojo plugin.

When i play my video, video preview shows smooth video at 25fps.
But then it drops to 20-21 and then back to 25.
it does this all the time.

here is a screenshot from windows performance monitor:
performance.jpg

blue is hdd, green is processor, yellow is ram

as you can see everytime when fps drops, the hdd meter goes up.
so does that mean the problem is my hard drive speed?

here is also my project settings:

and here my computer specs:
Acer Aspire 7520G laptop
- Mem: 2GB RAM
- Proc: AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-56 1.80 Ghz
- Hard Drive: Western WD Scorpio 160GB 2.5" 5400RPM SATA HDD
- OS: Windows XP Professional SP3

You don't have enough RAM and your hard drive is slow. That's a killer combination for trying to work with video.

Your laptop should suffice for DV video, but certainly not with the Magic Bullet Mojo plugin applied. Try setting your splitscreen view button above the video preview window to "FX Bypassed" and see what kind of performance you get when the Magic Bullet plugin is bypassed.

Also, having your footage on the same drive as your operating system and editing software is really going to slow things down. Add an external USB drive -- one that runs at a minimum of 7200rpm -- and put your footage on that drive. See if that helps.
