I wonder if they will support the HVX?

I would be very happy if they did that. At this point I can't fathom learning a new NLE.

There are going to be announcments tonight at the Vegas users' party at NAB. Supposed to be pretty big.

The party starts in about 35 minutes. If it goes as last year, the substantive stuff will be said about an hour after that.

This is the part where they either ante up or shut up. So they either support the HVX or they slink back into their hobbyist hole. :)

Well, if 10,000 HVXs have already been sold -- and I don't know if that's an accurate number or not, but it's the number going around NAB -- I'd say the time has come.

Buuuut . . . what Sony thinks of as Earth-shattering is not always the same thing as actually BEING Earth-shattering, so we'll see what the big announcements are.

What's a "Premiere Theater"?

Kinda makes it difficult to enter if there isn't one near you.

Or if there is, but the theater manager isn't willing to shut down the place so you can make little film in it. :)

Sony once again shows us they could give a $hit less about what we want or think. They'll tell us what they will graciously give us and when they want to give it to us. It is really a sad day that sony bought sonic foundry.

Let's see... a trip to central Florida to see your video (what they're asking for is called a "policy trailer" by the way) blown up to 35mm and a grand in pocket money.

I'll take 2nd prize thank you very much.

I'm not so sure. The brand new price of an R4 is more like $1,350 not $1,800 or whatever they quoted, and I should know since I just bought one a month ago for that. Weigh that against not the trip to FL, but having your short run for MONTHS in theaters with a credit line. I'd take first I think. :)

But that's not to say, I'd be much more interested in what's going to be included in Vegas 7 than some silly contest...

If doing work for free and having a commercial enterprise use it for gainful commercial purposes is gratification, I'll take a pass. This theater chain wants a lot for little if nothing - a commercial and policy trailer to be played prior to their feature attraction. This would cost them thousands upon thousands of dollars to produce through an agency.

It's unlikely that the end-product will have credit cards or any other indication of who the creator was. [EDIT] The flyer indicates the filmmaker will be credited within the projected piece. ***

Maybe I'm missing something? All I'm saying is call a spade a spade.
