Vegas 7 vs Vegas 8

So I wanted to ask u guys, when comparing the two, what is the biggest upgrade when using Vegas 8... I keep hearing about its use of 32-bit. Is it really worth buying version 8 just for that?

If you are working with HD, 32bit is really slow and it does not offer real time editing on most PCs. For me, the biggest feature is the overall maturity of the product. Little here, little there...

Okay, this doesn't do much for me. What exactly is the benefit?

Also where are we at now with regards to native mpeg2 editing? I use version 6 and it needs cineform to work right.

Vegas 7 had a huge upgrade over 6 when editing HDV footage.

One nice feature of Vegas 8 is built-in multicamera editing.

Yea I kind of figured that its not a huge jump... Anyone else really think Vegas 8 is incredibly better than 7?

I think the color processing is now 10 bit or 12 bit which offers the output quality of AE etc. It can show better results in color correction etc. The output also an handle a much wider bandwidth of color. I think ver 8 is worth it for that feature alone. I believe the color is good enough for pro film out work. I also heard from others that it handles Mpeg2 a little better (HDV too). Renders are slightly faster. Who told you that Ver 8 pro is SLOWER ?? I dont think so. Maybe slightly faster. But ive really not heard anyone saying its slower.

if you have windows xp you cannot upgrade to vegas8, for me that is a good thing, I am trying to say away from vista for as long as posible, even if that means if I gotta stick it out with vegas7

I hate it too. :P
It just doesn't feel right. It's a good OS underneath, solid technologies, but jeez, it feels like a circus.

My next video station will be XP-based too.

Personally i didnt like vista. The way the windows etc animate and move etc must be hogging the processor for unneccesary dramatics. XP Pro is prettty stable. Ah thank god 24FPS misspelled that. I was shocked to think Vegas 8 would run only with Vista. Since its a typo im relieved.

Eugenia > Definitely Vegas will perform better on XP Pro, because Vista will swindle Vegas' share of processor power towards its bells and whistles.

Im actually wondering ...whats so unique about Vista...other than the bells and whistles and that it mimics mac stylization ??

What do you mean by good technologies ? Can you explain what difference it makes to the end user. Or do you mean good technologies in terms of revenue generation for microsoft ..?? :)

The kernel, the file system, the big fixes...again all of those are technical terms. What good is a file system ? or kernel ? what difference does this make in performance. Im trying to understand is it more stable than xp pro. Is the interface better with more options. What difference does how a system does its work matter to us. What benefit do we get out of this filing system, kernel etc. Whats the obvious benefit. You never worry how your car engine works right ? what will the change in the new engine offer us ? Better milleage ? Can you plz tell me some simple points how this OS is superior to XP Pro ?
