VEGAS-7 NUBE encounters color running

I have a new problem and I don’t know what to call it. I tried to make a dvd video that was at 3.8 gigs in length…straight cuts [no cc] from a 24pa project. It was a test burn. Now my earlier test burns, that were much shorter in length, I never noticed this problem, but I notice in my Architect’s preview window, that this time, my colors are running. I’d like to do a search on this color smearing phenomena but I’m not sure what to call it?

What I have is a video I’m making on the building of a racecar. The chassis and roll cage have just been painted bright red/fresh paint and in the preview box of Architect it looks as if the paint is dissolving off the car and into the air….like red smoke. Any help as to what I’m looking at?

now after the burn, on the DVD itself, I dont notice the color smearing, but the red chassis appears blurry, as if its out of focus.

ok, I may have stumbled across something in prior threads that descibe this, it may be called color banding or blooming, and I see this has happened before with the color red. Anybody have experience with this one before?

ok, more progress to report, I put up the vectorscope and my red is stretched pretty good, then i put up sony levels and I can make improvements on the vectorscope which looks better in the video preview window. Im going to burn some more tests.
I remember when I first bought the dvx it oversaturated the reds and I had to go to file scenes to bring down the saturation "in camera," maybe I need to bring it down more.
Which one of these "Sony levels" choices do you think would be best to use? Damn, they had to paint the car red...lol

yea Horse, the nice thing about chroma blur is it doesnt change my red tones...so my skin tones and white balance in general stay correct. I'm also experimenting with a little sony sharpen. Any other things I could experiment with would be greatly appreciated. Im trying to save some real hours of filming here....thanks
