Vegas 7 and multiprocessor

Sony says the new Vegas has "improved multi-processor support." To those you of you who are test flying the trial edition or have already made the upgrade AND are editing on a dual processor machine, what level of improvement have you noticed?

I know some have already said the preview window is cleaner, but what about other workhorse stuff like building peaks and rendering?

Me too... Don't quite understand if they are using an intermediary or just editing raw Mpeg2 on the time line.

I´ve done a quick performance comparison between 6.0 and 7.0, using SD material.
My results: no improvement in rendering speed, no improvement in preview framerate. 100% performance increase in "building peaks" speed.

I tested on a dual 1.83 centrino notebook with 2gb Ram.
I´m quite disappointed by the lack of improvement in the preview departement. Instead of using both cores at a 100%, Vegas 7.0 has both cores working at 50% to 60% maximum, even with heavy plug-in load going on. Rendering has both cores at maximum, fortunately.

What brand is your notebook? I was just reading today that some of the major brands, if not most or all are not configured to properly take advantage of dual cores.
I will try to find the site again and post a link to the info on the fix. It could be your problem. It involves a reg edit, mostly I think

I asked about V7 playback on dual-core at sms forum : here & here.
V7 seem to have a better playback rate than V6 with multi core/cpu.

Playback is *much* faster for .m2t streams.

For other materials, people are seeing mixed results. All the filters have been supposedly optimized in Vegas 7. My own results bear this out, although it seems some filters did not really get much faster at all. Gaussian blur definitely got faster. I haven't yet gotten to the bottom of this... people are reporting mixed results. This may be because of the filters they are using.

I'm finding the playback window is actually a little SLOWER with a single processor. Previosly, when editing SD with now effects, or just title overlays I had no strobing on the highest playback setting, now, on the highest setting with 7 I'm getting a little strobing. No big deal because I just set it a little lower, but I just figured Id put it out there.
