Vegas 7 and Decklink card

No luck in the Cow forums on this one:

I have yet to get Vegas to recognize the monitor on my Decklink HD Extreme card. When I open the options for video preview, I choose decklink and it says "device unavailable". Also I notice when I extend my desktop to the decklink monitor and then try "secondary windows display", when I identify the monitors it shows up as a red number rather than a green number (all other monitors are identified by a green number).

for what it's worth, the decklink works fine in preview with AE7

Any ideas?

Thanks

Brian

If it is installed via PCI then try another slot that is farther away from the AGP/PCI Express Port. Also make sure your drivers is installed correctly. Check device manager for any question marks.

hi smithy

Thanks for the tips - all drivers seem to work fine. Unfortunately I have only one slot I can put it in: the other 2 PCI express slots are full up with 8800 cards.

I'll give it some more think-see though
Cheers

Vegas 7 and Decklink card

I'm also having problems getting my Vegas 7.0 so recognize my new Decklink Extreme HD card. I've reinstalled the driver several times now, to no avail. It continues to tell me that it's not available.

Well, I spoke a bit to the Vegas developers and while they claim it works on Vegas 7, I still haven't been able to get it working, even with the latest beta drivers. Then again I'm running XP 64 bit so I don't get the advantage of all the latest and greatest stuff

Vegas 7 does not work with any Decklink drivers after V4.8.1 I have to use the firewire option for video preview in vegas while nuendo and Premiere use the decklink card with no problems at all.

From what I understand Vegas 8 will use the latest declink drivers.

I'm not sure why vegas won't preview on the external monitor as well, I extend my desktop and in vegas preview preferences it indetifies both monitors in green. I select windows secondary display but it shows unavailable. Why is this? Does vegas7 recognize any external monitors at all? besides the firewire?
Thanks!

I currently have a 3 monitor setup. 2 monitors are hooked up to my 7800GS card and my HDTV is hooked up to my Quadro fx 560 with component out. It runs fine and it outputs it out at 1920x1080P to my monitor. So I suppose the videocard that you use can be hooked up to the secondary display via DVI or component out with the breakout attachment. Now you also must make sure all your monitors are activated via the windows display settings that you will find in the control panel for it to work correctly.

I'm afraid you may be out of luck - I chased this for a few months and didn't get anywhere with it. I spoke with Blackmagic Design and they are working on a version that will be compatible with Vegas 8 but it's not there yet

I don't have any problem using my #2 monitor with WSD. I haven't tried anything else, though.
