Vegas 7.0 101: How do you upload footage?

When you render as MPEG, in the "Render As" box, click "Custom." Click on the Audio tab and check the box that says "Include Audio Stream."

With file sizes, try experimenting with different data rates and frame sizes.

Yeah I just did all of that, but now I get no video or audio on my output... do I need to have the footage highlighted before going to render?

If you select "Render loop region only," then yes. If you uncheck that box, it should render the full timeline.

The X is a cross fade. Click on the clip to the right and drag it further to the right so that it butts up to the clip on the left. That will give you a cut instead of a fade.
