Vegas 6c starts capture..stops along the way

I've captured with Vegas with no problems in the past. Recently its started the trend of capturing the video for x minutes then the capture just halts but the tape keeps playing and the counter in vegas keeps moving. Though the preview stops playing as well.

Any ideas?

The only thing that recently changed was:

- Added 512mb
- Added an external firewire HDD and set it to capture drive

* Oh, I'm wondering - any potential issue with having the camera on FW and HDD on FW both going at the same time... meaning the cam playing through FW to the PC which is then writing through FW to the HDD??

Are you certain your timecode is not garbled on the tape at that point? You might try deselecting "Enable Scene Detection" in your capture prefs.

Three things pop into my mind..bad firewire cable and ram failure. Try memtest to see if there is problem there. Third..Also look into your IDE/ ATA setup under device manager and make sure it is set to dma enabled and not running at P10 mode. Maybe your C drive is running a P10 mode and your HD is overwelmed by the transfer.
