Vegas 6 to copy a DVD? Bad idea?

For whatever reason, Nero won't let me make a duplicate of a DVD I burned a while back. So as a work around I'm importing the DVD into vegas and will render to mpeg2 and then out to DVDA 3.

Will this create problems? I've never quite understood digital generation loss and when is doesn't or doesn't happen.

You might be better off simply importing the .VOB files into DVDA itself -- change the extension to .mpg if necessary. (Never tried it myself, but in theory, it should work.)

If you render as MPEG-2 from Vegas, you're recompressing heavily-compressed material. The results won't impress you.

it's a one hour DVD, there are a lot of files that show up in the DVDA explorer window, they say "Video TS bup"and "video ts ifo" and "video_01 bup" and "vts_01 vob" etc. Anyone know which ones are the ones I want to drag to the workspace?

Why not try taking the Video_TS folder and the Audio_TS folder, copying them into a separate folder, then pointing DVD Architect to it as a project to burn?
