Hi All,

Just started a project with Vegas 6 on my new Sony Vaio. This is the first time Ive done editing on both the new computer and with the new software. I did download the patch for Vegas 6 and I now have version 6.0b (build 115) version. What is happening: During editing, at any unknown moment, my computer pops up a window that says "Vegas 60.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close...." Then, I have no option but to shut down, and reopen up Vegas, recall the last version I saved and wait for it to happen again in 10 minutes. Does anyone know why this is happening? I have found that it happens when I am moving something in the timelines- a clip or the editing tool, etc. I have 5, hour long documentaries to edit and its going to be one hell of a long project if I have to endure this crap every 10-15 minutes. Please help! thanks-

Document the exact message (copy the code from the details box you can open up when you get the message), and contact Sony's tech support ASAP. Could be a bug you'll help them to identify to take care of in the next release.

Sucks it's happening so often for you, sorry to hear that. I had a similar issue happen to me a couple times in a row the other night as I was editing ... mine occured both times when I was trying to move an anchor point within Bezier Curves/Mask. I made sure I saved with just about every little change I made for a bit, then decided the one little area I was doctoring really didn't need to be messed with anyway, so I just avoided it. Worked for me, but sounds like yours is much more serious.

Again, document, and contact Sony Tech support ASAP ... they may be able to help on the spot, or at least work it out in the next release.

I had similar problems till I updated my drivers for my video card and now it runs fine..you might need to update your drivers.

Thanks guys- still having the problems. With a brand new Sony Vaio, do you still think Id need to update the drivers in my video card this soon? You may be right, but I thought this pc was pretty much updated and ready to rock. Ive contacted Sony- no response yet. If there is a weird problem computer related- its murphys law that I seem to get it. Im going to try and defrag- possibly its a RAM problem- then, Ill try and reinstall, and download with version B. The weird thing is that I just installed Magic Ultra, and it too shut down with a message that said it encountered a problem. What is it with my new $2800 computer? Absolutely frustrating!

If you are having the same problem with another video intensive application than I am going to have to agree that the problem is most likely a video driver conflict.

Just go the Sony website and there should be a link somewhere called something like Support, Downloads, Drivers, etc etc. Work your way through this area and you should find downloads for your specific model computer. The other choice, is if you know the make/model of the video card go to the video card manufactures website and download the latest driver.

You can find out the make/model of the video card by going into Control Panel and opening "System". Then click on the "Hardware" tab, "Device Manager" button, and finally, double-clicking on "Display adapters".

Hope this helps,
Larry
