Vegas 5 error on startup.

It is a simple error that states:

An error occurrec starting Vegas.
The reason for the error could not be determined.

This is a brand new install. I just wondered if anyone has seen the generic error before and if might cause a problem. It seems to work fine, but who knows.

Operating system? Memory? Hard Drives? Did you install a "real copy"? Did you have the virus protection OFF when installing? A little more info might help....

Greets,
I had this happen to me once, and it was a result of having gone through the services list in Windows and disabling a bunch of things I didnt feel were necessary for an editing system. The culprit...and I know this makes no sense, was having terminal services disabled. Enabled it, and never had the problem again. With any luck, thats your problem....if that aint it, may The Force be with you.

Holy #$$#%. When I turned Terminal Services on, the error went away. Thanks for the tip. Of course, that just seems really wrong.

Thanks again.

Interesting.... after the fact, I located this:

From reader Jeremy K,

I love your site. It helped me know what services to disable and leave up...my boot time is now 10 seconds.

Anyways....about the terminal service, it's required for Sony Vegas 4.0/5.0 video editing software to run. I had it disabled (as i didn't have any of the listed items turned on, but then I kept getting an error message every time i loaded Vegas....so....it's needed for me.
