Vegas 5 and DV Rack ... Anyone tried it yet?

Re: Vegas 5 and DV Rack ... Anyone tried it yet?

Yes, I've done it - work beautifully. After you 'eject' your clips in DVRack, you just import them into Vegas (instead of capture video).

Using a laptop for a field monitor is tricky - at least mine is not the fastest of beast, so there is considerable delay between the action and what gets displayed/captured.

Also, the laptop always shows the picture slightly softer than a field monitor would - probably something to do with it being an LCD screen rather than CRT...

Other than that, since I am slight red/green color sensitivity disorder (or whatever the eye doctor said), I really like to use vectorscope and waveform monitors.

Go for it!

Some people were concerned about using the firewire port on the camera, worrying about it breaking from any stress caused from moving around with the cable connected. Did the firewire port show any signs of being fragile while using it and moving to get the shot?

Well... I've been careful, so no problems there so far. But it does feel kind of fragile.
