Vegas 5 and Dual Core

[darmanb]

Thinking of upgrading from P4 to AMD 64 X2 4800+ Dual Core.
Is Vegas 5 capable of using the full power of this proc?
Do I need to set-up manualy or Vegas will recognize automaticly?

This may sound stupid but while I am at this subject I have another question:
Do I need 64bit Windows XP for 64bit processor?
I currently run on WinXP Home with Pentium4 2.4GHz.

Thanks

Yes, Vegas 5 will take advantage of the dual core just as it did for hyper threading. Vegas 6 will do a better job because it’s been optimized for it better and the MPEG encoder will use both cores. I get faster than real-time encoding of DV to MPEG2 with my AMD X2 4600+ and Vegas 6.

No you don’t need WinXP 64 nor will you benefit from it since Vegas is still a 32bit app. Windows Home should work fine.
