Hi, my last projects have been music videos. so its very critical the lip sync , so when I make an avi to make a dvd or print to tape from the time line some portions are out of sync, I checked the problem and I think is the monitirig device or its settings, there are several layers of video and only one stereo audio track an sometimes the video events are color corrected individualy and I apply mb to one complete track, I have been monitoring via fire wire with a canon xl1 and unsing vegas 6 with windows secondary display and the same, what appears ok when im editing look out of sync in the finished avi, I use a 23.976 time line and the media is recorded with the 2332 pull down, I think the video retraces because the effects , if this is true, is there a way to render in back ground while I am working, because using even the lowest quality monitoring the problem persits, another question, this could be fixed or bettered adding a deck link card? Mi computer is a p4 3.0 two hd 512 mb ram, radeon 9550 video card
Thanks

You could use Shift+M (or Tools > Selectively Prerender Video...) which will render any altered video and then use the pre-render files to playback at full frame rate. The only catch is, if you move a pre-rendered video event on the timeline, it looses its link to the pre-rendered file. As long as you only move audio around, you should be OK.

It may be better use Ctrl+M (or Tools > Render to New Track). This will render out your video as an AVI file and place it on a new track. Then you can delete the additional audio track and mute all the existing video tracks and sync the music to the new video track which will play back at full frame rate because it’s just single AVI file.

I don’t think there is any hardware that will help. Vegas just uses raw CPU power for rendering.

When you're syncing everything together in preview, do you have your effects active at the same time? Is so, I'd imagine that your preview is actually LAGGING ... so when you THINK you're in sync, in reality your music/vocals is off.

I'd suggest making sure that your effects are off in the preview monitor, so you're syncing to raw non-CC'd video (especially Magic Bullet). When you're all sync'd up, then just render it out ... give it a shot.
