Vegas 12 Pro announced for Fall 2012

FX Masking, Shape Masking, and Edit Properties for Multiple Video Files are the only new features that sound useful to my own work.

Can't get my head around the new Expanded Edit Mode thingy...

Here's hoping Sony do a nice upgrade price for the new version, otherwise I may have to stick with v11.

This is my favourite:

Panasonic P2 Support
Ingest P2 media using Vegas Pro's Device Explorer, and edit the DVCPRO 25/50/100 and AVC-Intra 50/100 MXF files natively.

I just upgraded from 9 to 11 a few weeks ago. I should have maybe waited but wasn't sure if they would let a 9 upgrade to a 12?

Yeah, I think it's one of those things you have to see to understand.

I think many of us will just hang out with v11 for some time, as it was one of the only major upgrades recently that gave us something really big (GPU support).

I don't think 9 would have gotten an upgrade to 12. Either way, 11 to 12 should be relatively cheap. And, 12 will probably be a little unstable at first anyway.

"and edit the DVCPRO 25/50/100"

The DVCPRO 50 support would have been a nice feature for me circa 2002, but better late than never.

Nothing that i desperately need, though the shape masking seems nice.
Anyway, in true Vegas tradition we'll probably need to wait until the version C comes out to get a stable release.
Either way, I'll be hanging out 11 for a while though. I'm thinking of skipping this and go directly to vegas 13...anyone with me?

Sony has always followed the Sonic Foundry (the inventors of Vegas, Acid, Sound Forge, etc.) tradition of being very lenient with upgrades.
For example, if all you have is Vegas Audio 1.0, you could upgrade to Pro 11 for the same price as a Pro 10 user.
From the upgrade page:
Upgrade any professional version of Vegas (Vegas Pro, Vegas Audio, or Vegas Video, Vegas, or Vegas+DVD) to Vegas Pro 11.Hopefully they will continue with this tradition.

Mike
