Vegas 10c ready for primetime?

I'm finishing up a project now on 9e, it's been working great over the past year. I now shoot everything on a Canon 550D (T2i), and I use DVFilm EpicI to handle the QT footage.

Computer wise, I have a quad core i7 920 2.67GHz, with 6 GB of RAM running 64 bit Win7

The next project I think I will have need of the stabilization function in Vegas 10, but I know from the past that you don't want to get the first few versions of any Vegas software.

I wanted to know from those using the software if the 64 bit Vegas 10 is generally reliable in the current 10c release, and espeically from anyone who is using DVFilm Epic I.

Thanks!

Vegas 10c (64-bit) is rock solid - have been working with a three hour timeline and there hasn't been a single hiccup in my experience.

You don't need DVFilm Epic - Vegas Pro 10 handles Canon DSLR footage natively with ease. Just drag and drop your 550D footage to the timeline and see it play back in real time (and Best Full preview quality) without breaking a sweat.

You should be able to test that Canon DSLR footage handling yourself with the free demo version of 10c, BullMoose - if it's as good as Subhadip says, that alone may make the upgrade worthwhile.

Well, I think it is. Here's today's project. 10.c Canon 7D for the closeups and many of the cut aways, HMC 150 for the initial establishing shot and the board audio feed. Titles by Vegas pro titler. No transcoding done on this at all. 11 tracks of audio & video. 64 bit Windows & Vegas. 8 Gbs RAM. I7 Dell desktop. Shot last week. Crank up the volume and enjoy some great Brazilian music all edited on Vegas. And best of all, no crashes.

I've not always transcoded, but for green screen I do using Neoscene. But not needed, no. Vegas seems to be handling it and AVCHD fine now. Your needs may dictate t.c but you might be ok. My little music video was not t.c.ed at all. Rendering times about 1:1.

Are yall using 10c and Win 7? I have 10c on Vista and will get a new computer next month. Since the vista version I have can not use more than 16GB of ram, I was going to upgrade to Win 7 ($39.00 student discount, woot). Any issues with 10.c and Win 7?

Well even the Epic stuff has problems right now with some of the stuff I'm doing, I have a title sequence with multiple layers of greenscreened images all with more fx on top of that. It plays fine in draft/half lol. When I dont have too much going on it's fine, but the project coming up is going to be lots of double and triple video at various settings of opacity, so I might be better to stick with 9, as I don't like transcoding, and this way I can start roughing in while it's working and it's automated so I don't have to think about it, even though it does take that time. But I need the stabilization too. May have to keep 2 versions going, but then maybe that won't work if I have to reinstall regular quicktime to displace Epic.

See my post above with the video link. It works just fine. Though I wouldn't bet you will find that having 16 GB of RAM is going to add much as it relates to Vegas. I have a dual quad core, 8 GBs RAM, and while the CPU is fully loaded, the RAM is never close. Hope you are going to use that RAM for some other application.
