Vegas 10 Won't let me save to external hard drive

Hello

I am using Sony Vegas 10 Platinum Suite on a laptop and I am trying to save some video footage that I just captured to an external hard drive. When I try to click on the folder in the external hard drive I get a message from Vegas reading, "You don't have permission to save at this location. Contact the administrator." This is a legal hard copy of Vegas that I bought and has been registered. I am using Windows Vista. I have roughly six to seven hours of footage that needs to be edited and can not fit on my laptops memory. Any help regarding a solution to this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone? Please. C'mon no one else has ever encountered a situation like this before? Could it have been a settings inssue? I need something here.

Sounds like a permissions problem. Vegas should be running as an administrator by default, but if not then try this: Right click, "Run as Administrator" on the Vegas icon.

If that doesn't work it could be a deeper permissions issue, especially since it's an external (there may be folders created by other users on other computers and versions of windows, effectively locking those folders). The easiest solution for that would be to just disable UAC: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/wind...nt-control-uac-the-easy-way-on-windows-vista/ and try it again.
