Vegas 10 canon 5D DSLR files

loaded some 1080 24P d7000 footage into 32bit vegas 10 - Playback is real-time at full-rez, "preview" quality. "good" runs at around 22fps and "best" at around 19fps - this was in 32bit color space too. A huge improvement over version 9. Adding a color corrector did bite into the frame-rate but not by much.

this was on an older 8 core xeon machine.

Cool, but the D7000 codec is different from the 5D codec.

I have Vegas 9 64bit with an i7 and I am still really struggling with it. I have just tried converting some of the 7d mov files to avi and it seems to be okay. It is very early in the piece though, I thought it was sorted when I made them Sony avc files...it wasn't.

"I don't see why it wouldn't. Version 9 played them."
"yeah, but it was a nightmare working with them. even on a maxed out PC without transcoding to something like Cineform format."
Vegas 9 edits Canon 5dII footage perfectly with no transcoding or conversion necessary, and no trouble at all. I'm doing it right now and it's smooth and trouble free. i7 2600 3.4ghz, 16gb ram.

I don't know what people are talking about.
