Did a quick comparison of render times with vegas 6 this morning.
23.97 project Shot in 24pa
rendered 476 frames (about 15 seconds) magic bullet mexicalli effect to new file
Vegas 5....... 8 minutes ........................on a 3.0 ht 1 gig ram
Vegas 5....... 6 minutes 15 seconds .....on a 3.0 ht 1 gig ram

A little faster.....Every little bit helps.

Also the audio scrubbing is kinda sluggish at first glance.

That's a pretty good improvement considering that magic bullet is sucking up most of the rendering time.

To a new AVI file, MPEG, what? I've noticed certain files take WAY longer to render than others (i.e. AVI files are time pigs for me to render).

Based on those ratios above, I'll cut about 2+ hours off the render time of a video I rendered overnight last night. It was about a 4 minute video with three video tracks, all with Magic Bullet Filmic ... doing it to MPEG 2 (with a two pass selected - I always do for DVD finals), took about 10 1/2 hours.

I ran 2 instances of the rendering thingy and re-rendered it and it finished and re-stitched in about 4.5 minutes. a good increase :-)
Also a great bonus feature when network rendering, is you can still edit while it renders in the background even if your just network rendering on one computer.
it works with one instance or 2 instances of the network render thing.

One thing that sucked is it took me 3 hours to figure out how to make it work.

Also you can't run more than one instance unless you have an HT chip.

I rendered it back out as a ntsc 24p 2-3 pulldown.

Also the new Magic Bullet HD plug-in is multiprocessor enabled. (hyperthreading) The V5 Magic Bullet and one that came with the DVX100 is not. If the plug-ins are not multithreaded they have a yellow spec beside them in the FX window.
