Can someone please tell me the 'right', or most efficient way, to accomplish what I want with this sequence?
I'm working with a 720p24 timeline/sequence. I shot a long one-shot at 60p (DVCPRO HD 720p60), and I want to add a few clips from this master shot at 24p (slow-mo), and some at 60p.
The target sequence I'm editing to is a 720p24 timeline, so obviously the 60p clips will have to be re-rendered to 24p. I want to make an initial edit, with some room for adjustment later. In other words, I may want to change the in-out points later, and I may want to change the playback speed of each individual clip later (from 24p back to 60p or vice-versa).
It seems once I drop the 60p clips into my timeline, they get 'converted' to 24p clips. At this point, even if I change the playback speed to 40% (40% of 60fps is 24fps), I only see the blended frames, and not the original frames -- a huge loss of quality.
It seems I can use Cinema tools to conform the file from 59.94 to 23.98... I had to re-cut my clips, but now the slow-mo clips look great! However, I change my mind about playback speed of a few specific clips, and push them to 250% (250% of 24p is 60p), they look really bad.
I also can't re-conform the original back up to a 60p playback speed without recapturing... anyone know why?
Thanks in advance for advice/help!
