Varizoom "remote" controller?

Somebody please educate me.

I have a Varizoom VZ Pro-L which I used on my XL1-s. Will this work with my HVX200? The HVX manual simply states "remote" connection but does nothing to tell me what kind of device it uses. (or at least I cant find any info, I think the manual is terrible) Is this "remote" input a LANC and is it different than Canon? If I plug it in will it smoke the camera :shrug:
