Has anyone used the DV Sportster? you can find it on varizoom's site. I haven't seen any other place that carries it. Any users and how is it? I'm either getting this or the Smooth Shooter...
Thanks!

Ok

yes mate! please do post some footage of it in action. personally I kinda look the dvrig pro, at least judging from footage I've seen. Trying to make my own diy steadicam with a desk lamp, but I kinda suck at building my own ****. anyways, good luck with your purchase.

It's not worth the money.

The arm doesn't have the strength, or build to support much of anything. An arm should be able to support whatever "load" is on it. I have never seen the DV Sportster able to float unassisted. The likelyhood of getting a good walking shot is slim, it simply isn't designed correctly. And I have flown a lot of rigs over the years.

Save your money for something else.

Pookie, have you used the Smooth Shooter? And what do you think of that one? If anything, I'll just save up another 2 weeks for the Smooth Shooter. What do you think?

Go with the Smooth Shooter, absolutely.

Far better build quality, much better product. I've tried them both...don't get a DV Sportster even for half the price.

The SS will work for a multitude of setups, and you'll be very satisfied, I assure you.

Cool...

Cool...

I just have to find a place that has the Smooth Shooter in stock. They seem to be on backorder everywhere.

Hello, everyone. I'm new at this forum.

For shooting a long-duration event (like wedding feast), and sometimes need to walk while shooting, is DvRig Pro is good enough? How about a combination of Glidecam 4000 and DV Sportster? I'm planning to have one of them since I don't have any for now. Could anyone help me choose the most suitable for me? Any suggestions will be accepted.

Thanks before.
NB: Sorry for my bad english. I'm Indonesian.

I have the dv-rig, and I'd say that for a long long shoot, this is probably the most comfortable device. It's not a steadicam though, so the best walking shots you'll get will resemble a smooth ENG camera walk. However, I've worn the rig for 8 hours straight without much problem.

The glidecam + sportster is also a lot harder to learn to use, the dvrig works right out the box.
