Various Frame Rates for new Green Day Music Video

Did you any of you catch the making of Green Day's new Music Video on MTV2? I think the song is called "American Idiot".

They individually shot each member of the group up against the green screen. The guitarist was shot at 48p; The lead singer at 24p and the drummer I think was 30p (can't remember)

In the end, they blended all the shots together to make it look like they were all performing at the same time and they drummer was playing super slow, the guitarist on the other hand was playing really fast and I can't remember how fast or slow the singer was but the effect looked really cool.

If guitarist was shot at 48fps wouldn't he be the slow member of the band heh...
Is that the effect where one stays at 24fps (the play back rate) and people around the main character move at 12fps?
I haven't turned on tv in months, sheesh i wonder what it is like...

yea I can't remember which band member had what frame rate. I just know that there were 3 band members shot against a green screen at different frame rates.

Can someone unscramble this? Different rates in the same frame while a dynamic camera move. Motion control rig? I suspect they shot each one of them alone, different rates but the motion definitely has to be right on for them to stick these clips together so i assume they used some kind of high budget motion control computer influenced rig.
Anyone with info?

Looks incredibly interesting in the videos not sure about films.

yes, they used a MoCo on the shots with different rates during a dolly move. MTV2 had a "Green Day Makes A Video" special on it. pretty interesting stuff.

Check out REALVIZ MoveMatch for a software based motion tracking option. http://www.realviz.com/products/mpro/index.php

The director would speed up and slow down the song while shooting them for this sequence. I have experimented with it and if you do the math in advance you get very close to what you want once you put it into your timeline.

1/2 speed audio and playback at 48fps will give you the look of the bass player moving fast....
2x speed audio played back at 12 fps makes singer look like slo-mo.

I like the look of this!!!!
