Hello!
I am currently quite a bit torn about which on-camera light to purchase. I have a Canon XH-A1 and plan to use this for event shooting (e.g. weddings). My budget is around $300. I wish I could spend some more but I can't.
Originally, I had intended to get the LitePanels Micro, but the poor build quality issues are giving me huge second thoughts. That said, in my lengthy researching this issue, I haven't really heard of anyone breaking theirs.
Anyone think I should just go with the Varalux (Lowel id-light is also an option) instead? Carrying around a battery would be a pain but I could probably live with it. I'd also have to spend some extra on a diffusion filter and barn doors, so this would actually come out a little more expensive overall.
Another reason why the Varalux might be better for me is the versatility. The Varalux seems like it might be powerful enough for other users further down the line ... backlighting, etc.
Please let me know what you think, I need to make this purchase very soon!
