VanceJib - Any questions about this crane/jib?

It looks like shortly after Christmas I'm going to get the opportunity to get some hands on time with the new Cineventions 'VanceJib.'
I'll be putting together a review of it after I get a chance to do some shooting.

I was just curious if anyone had any impressions, questions, comments, etc, about it.
Basically, is there anything you'd like me to make sure I do, look at, ask, etc.
Anything that you'd like to see covered in a jib review?

I'll tell you the one thing I know for a fact I'm putting to a test first, and that's the "90 second setup" claim.

Check it out and let me know if you have any ideas on what you'd like to see.

How about the weight it can handle. Some jibs claim 10lbs, some more, but realistically speaking, how many pounds before it becomes hard to manage.
I for one have a set up between 14lbs and 18lbs. So if it can handle 35lbs safely then no problem, but who knows.
Thanks,
Luis S.

Well, I usually have my HVX with a Firestore and a wireless lav.
Not sure how much that weighs exactly - but I can check.
I can probably weight it down with some added stuff, just to see how it does.
Not sure I'll be able to weigh it up to 35lbs though...

...unless someone wants to lend me an HPX3000
:)

EDITED TO ADD:
I wonder if that 35lbs limit includes the tripod head?
I should ask about that

One detail that occurs to me Luis, is as it is a single arm, has it any Lateral Wobble?. I am in the process of making a jib, and after a PM from someone on DVX, I am using a double arm for Stability.

You mean single arm vertically?
Because it has two arms in parallel (one on top and one on the bottom)

And what do you mean exactly by 'lateral wobble'?
Are you looking to see if it wobbles at the tripod, at the camera end....or something else?
Just want to make sure I know what you're getting at.

Luis - in addition to setup time think about transporting and operating this as a one man band. And how small does it pack up. Aside from the normal usability those two aspects would be important to me. Thanks!

The VanceJib is conservatively rated for a 35 pound load.
I think it's pretty wobble-free, but that's something Luis can specifically address and report on. If i'm understanding the question, that would be like when you move fast in a swinging (panning) motion and stop quickly, does the camera waver side-to-side?

I do have some fast moves on an industrial video shot with the VanceJib--I will try to get that uploaded this evening.

Luis--I can't wait to get the final production model to you. Looking forward to your report.

Jeff - most of the time when I'm shooting it's just me and the camera, so I know what you're getting at. So I'll definitely look at it from the 'one man band' perspective.

I was able to test out a prototype eariler this year (I used it on 'Stump the Chef' a few times), and I don't think I was the only filmmaker who tested it out. So I'm really looking forward to seeing the final production model that should incorporate all the feedback that both I and others gave.... well.. at least the feedback I gave.
:)
