Valkyrie

it has. twice.

whoa, really? what are they called? i'd honestly like to see them since i thought that was the missing element of the movie. i liked the story, but the American and British actors, with documents being in German kinda pissed me off.

A heroe is not and should not be define by his success or faiure but his actions. Such is the case with Stauffenberg and his comrades in the little known attempts to assassinate Hitler. That's why they are honored, memoralized, and celebrated in Germany. Cruise did a good job portraying Stauffenberg. If it weren't for his couch jumping incident on Oprah a couple of years ago, I don't think people would have judge him so harshly. Try not to be too picky and you might just enjoy and get the true meaning and power of such a movie.

Try Gran Torino in January if you're one who looks for meaningful films....such as I.

I though this was a handsomely made film that was devoid of suspense. And I'm not saying that because I knew the outcome, although that didn't help. I just think cinematically, a more skilled director (say Spielberg) would have wrung every last dollar of suspense out of that situation, and Singer did not. I find Singer's work is growing increasingly antiseptic and cold. They lack strong emotional hooks, and often just feel like they are going through the motions. He is a talented visual stylist and his films always look great, and he can direct actors, but his work isn't that viscerally exciting. I just don't think that's in his tool bag. Even the X-Men films, while I enjoy them, could have used better action scenes.

Saw this, it was really good, surprisingly good. What made it good was the fact that even though I knew Hitler was gonna get assassinated, it still had a great level edge of your seat type of suspense. Great direction there.

You mean the attempted assassination? Or did this film really take some liberties. :)
