Vacation time is coming

I need to start planning now to get the cheaper rates...

I'd like to get out of snowy MI during the winter months for about a week... looking for somewhere I can goto the beach and it's 80 degrees out but not over crowded.... suggestions? You been anywhere fun?
 
Beach + 80 degrees = Florida.

At least that's what everyone says. I'd recommend West Palm Beach, Daytona Beach, or something similar if this is where you want to come. I can think of quite a few places better though, what about San Fransisco?
 
Florida is probably #1 on my list. But as you say, there are so many places one could go... being a Florida neative, where do you think woudl be a good place to go that is nice, with things to do, but not over-touristy/expensive?

I've heard that the cities in CA are crowded and pricey. Any truth to that?
