Just installed V8 seconds ago and I get this pop up when trying to open V7 projects... (that's all I've tried to do so far)

ok, I think I know what it is... I have no effects other than the ones I added myself, ie: Magic Bullet

Wow, you're not making me want to upgrade very much ;-) I was just thinking about sending them some money to take advantage of the upgrade deal...

Tell me about it. Anyone have an idea? I've tried all I could come up with but I still have no FXs or transitions. I am hoping that is the problem but the pop up doesn't really speak to me.

I just got V8. I upgraded from V6. So far I have had no problems with old or new projects. However, I do not have any 3rd party plugs.

Hehehe... that's all I have... just the 3rd party plug-ins... what did I do wrong? And how to fix this?

You have it easy... all you need to do is get the plugs one by one again. Work, but you have a "normal" problem...

I was messing with it again today and I got the same error when I tried to insert text media on the timeline by right clicking on it... however I was able to open the new titler thing they added...

???

I'll call them tomorrow...

Sometimes it's best to go into safe mode to do the uninstall of problematic installations.
Give it a go,,, worse that can happen is you waste a few minutes trying.

Good Luck

yea I haven't tried to do a safe mode un-install... maybe there is some sort of registry I need to delete?!? weird... I mean I haven't heard of anyone other just one guy with this problem... and my trial is fading away! :(

I didn't get around to calling them yet though.

but I don't on the other HDD... the first install I did as a test was on a HDD without V7 so I guess that really isn't the problem...

thanks for reminding me to call Sony!

I called them... the guy I got was nice and seemed to know what he was doing quite well but he had no clue about my problem.... he said he hadn't heard about it before either.

I will mess with this on the coming week.

Having 7 on a different HD than 8 will not necessarily solve your problems. You need to uninstall 7 and then install 8 to be sure that any registry/driver/windows crap conflicts are lessened (I wish I could say eliminated, but this IS windows. :-( )

Though I actually still have both 7 and 8 loaded on my machine and have no problems. Though when trying to open older projects, I'm having to go through and tell it where everything is again. But, mainly I'm just starting new projects, so this hasn't been too much of a problem.

Well Sony claims 7 and 8 have no issues whatsoever with coexisting... I have not had the chance to troubleshoot yet... I think I might have to buy it... ot try it on a new install... you guys think it is worth it? It surely sounds like it from what I've heard, but it allways helps to hear more opinions.
