UV Filter

I was advised to use a UV filter all the time, basically as a way of protecting the lens. IS this a stnadard practice?

Is it a mistake to use it indoors or at night?

Definitely put one on and keep it on. No it's not a mistake to use it inside at night.

Definitely! I have used one for one year now. It does not degrade the picture indoors. If you shoot action events like motorcycles, It protects the lens. Personaly, I would rather put cleaner on the UV filter then continuosly clean the lense.
