Hey guys I'm pretty new to working with xml and I'm trying to work out a few kinks. I am working on an hour long documentary. All of our interviews were shot in front of greenscreens, and we are thus using tons and tons of archival and stock footage to fill in behind the subjects. Because we are using so much stock footage I have created a huge database with every clip, and its important information (i.e. cost per second). What I want to do is export a sequence xml which can tell me exactly how long I used each clip in a nice, easy to read way.
What I have figured out so far is that I can export an XML and parse out the data using a small bit of perl code. Someone else created the perl code for me, I'm not well versed in perl, I just know how to run the script. This perl string spits out a csv type list which I have imported into an excel spreadsheet. This lets me see the name of the clip, the in point, the out point, the duration, and the reel number.
The problem is that these numbers dont seem correct. Some duration numbers (in frames) make sense, but I'm getting some durations listed in the 30+ thousand frames.
The other problem that I'm am having is that I only seem to be getting video from track 1. A lot of my background footage is on V2 and V3, do I need to nest my sequence, or something to that effect?
If anyone has some knowledge about xml, I would really appreciate the insight.
Here is the perl scritp I'm using: http://people.brandeis.edu/~jiba/xml.pl
Here is the excel document that it generated: http://people.brandeis.edu/~jiba/Parsed XML.xls
Hopefully those will help show the steps that I've taken so far.
