I am converting some 2hr 8mm videos to DVD's using Vegas5. This is really time consuming. I am currently just capturing in vegas to avi then using arch. to render and burn. This also requires me to compress using dvdarch. The rendering is taking 5 hours or so. Any suggestions on how to speed up the process? Thank you.

I just came across a bunch of 8mm home movie reels in my dad's garage. I am curious how you transferred them to a digital format? I checked a couple companies that do it and it was going to cost almost $300 for 33 reels.

Render out from Vegas using the MPEG 2 for DVD Architect template. It will take render time for Vegas, but it will make using DVD Architect much simpler. And quicker.
Just remember that you also have to render the sound in AC-3 format (use the same file name), but that doesn't take long.

Thank you. I will try that. I was just trying to cut a step by just doing all the rendering in Architect but it seems much slower. Anything in Vegas that is not 24p seems takes much longer to render. It would be cool if I could just capture the video as mpeg2 with some type of convert on they fly/buffer setup. And then just rip to dvd. Oh well. Can't have it all I guess. A stand alone dvd recorder seems like the only timely solution for this type of conversion don't you think?
