Using Vegas for the first time.

Hello. I am an Avid editor (avid xpress pro). Anyways, I do not have Mojo, therefore i cannot make digital cuts back to dv tape. A friend had suggested that i purchase a third party software that is capable of printing to tape. This is why i got vegas 5.

I use avid to edit 24pa footage. Now, how is the best way to send it to vegas and print to tape? Any suggestions on codecs and inserting pulldowns?

Re: Using Vegas for the first time.

wow, you bought vegas just to export to tape? huh
well, in Avid just render the file out as a standard DV-avi (inserting 2:3 pulldown). Bring that file into vegas and then go ahead and export to tape.

^^ Well i didn't buy it. My friend gave it to me. And yes, i got it just so i could make rough cuts and export them to tape. My final cut that will be done on avid will be sent to DVD of course.

you might check out http://www.scenalyzer.com for some great software that will do exactly what you are trying to do. It is a great capture program but also has great features for playing back to tape, plus it's only like $30.
